1. Get money back if something you bought last week from Amazon is on sale today

Melanie Pinola / Via lifehacker.com

Have you ever bought something on Amazon, only to find out a week later that that same item is now 30% off? Good thing is that you can contact Amazon customer service through live chat, phone call, or email and they’ll refund you the difference.

2. Receive price drop notifications and see price history with CamelCamelCamel

CamelCamelCamel tracks an item’s price and will notify you via tweet or email if there is a price drop. You can also look at a product’s past price history to see if you are getting a good deal.

3. You can share your Amazon Prime two-day shipping with four other people

One of the biggest benefits of having Amazon prime is getting free two-day shipping. Most people don’t know this, but you can invite up to four family members to use this feature. Go to the “Prime Central” page and click “Invite a household member.”

4. Get Amazon gift cards by using Amazon’s trade-in program

Did you know that you can get great deals on your old stuff, simply by trading it in on Amazon for a gift card? Neither did I, but since it’s been brought to my attention I’ve emptied an entire closet full of junk for over $500 in gift cards. Saves me the trouble of trying to sell it all online, because let’s be honest who has time for that. It’s not as good as actual cash but it comes pretty darn close, especially if you do a lot of shopping here.

5. Item arrived broken? Get a refund or replacement without having to return the damaged item!

If the item that you ordered on Amazon breaks, simply contact Amazon customer support. They will refund or replace your item with expedited shipping. Most times they won’t even ask you to return the broken product. If the purchase was made from a third party seller you will get your money back within three business days.

6. College students get Amazon Prime free for six months and discounts with Amazon Student.

Student

Students can enjoy all the benefits of Amazon Prime with Amazon Student, including free two-day shipping, music, movies, TV shows, and books. Additionally you will receive the first six months free, and pay $49 a year going forward. Keep in mind that you will need to provide a valid student email to sign up.

7. You can find cheaper textbooks on Amazon in other countries (Like amazon.ca or amazon.co.uk)

foreign

Textbooks are usually cheaper on foreign Amazon websites. For example a textbook on amazon.fr (France) could be half as expensive as the same one found on amazon’s main website. Make sure to double check with the seller that the book is written in English (they usually are).

8. Get major discounts on diapers and your baby registry with Amazon Family

Having a baby is not only stressful it’s expensive as well. If you shop on Amazon Family you can get 20% off of diaper subscriptions and 15% off items on the baby registry.

9. Use Amazon Gold Box and Amazon Coupons to take advantage of limited time offers

Amazon runs deals all year round, not just on Black Friday and Cyber Monday.  You can find them on the Amazon Gold Box and the Coupons pages.

10. Find the best deals on thousands of items with Amazon Outlet and Amazon Warehouse.

Amazon Outlet is where you can find items that are discounted 30% or more. Look into Amazon Warehouse as well. There you can find open-box and returned items. There is a huge selection of products that fall under Amazon’s money-back return policy. Items sold here are sorted based on their condition. They don’t have their original warranty but are covered directly by Amazon.

11. Avoid minimum purchase requirements by buying inexpensive “Add-on” items with a pre-order

There are plenty of cheap little products that Amazon offers for a better price than most local stores. The issue is that you need a minimum of $25 in your cart to qualify for the best deals. You can by-pass this by adding preorders for video games or books to your cart. Since Amazon will ship your physical items right away, you can go back and cancel your preorders later if you don’t want them. Amazon only charges you for preorders when the product ships.

12. Get major savings on items you buy frequently.

Instead of making monthly trips to the supermarket to stock up on the essentials for your home, you can subscribe to an item and have it delivered as frequently as you want. This will not only save you money but time as well. Remember that you can cancel at any time, you aren’t committed to anything.

13. Buy from third-party sellers to avoid paying state sales tax

Third party sellers on Amazon don’t have to charge sales tax, because of this you can sometimes get away without paying it. Keep in mind not all merchants choose to collect sales state tax, double check your cart before checkout.

14. Get a refund on shipping if your item arrives after the guaranteed delivery date.

Not everyone has Amazon Prime, so if you pay for shipping keep an eye out for guaranteed delivery by dates. Many items have a “Guaranteed Delivery” date. Shipping delays happen all the time, as a seller I have firsthand experience dealing with them.

Just reach out to Amazon customer service, and more often than not they will issue a refund for the shipping charges.

15. Install the Amazon app store on Android to get discounted books and free paid apps.

If you like to read books and are looking for discounts, look no further than the Amazon App Store for Android. All you have to do is install it on your Android device and you will get daily discounts on popular Kindle books. Amazon also offers paid apps for free every day.
